BIKES THAT HEAL COMMUNITY KICKOFF
TO BE HELD MAY 2

NEW PALTZ - BIKES THAT HEAL will hold its first annual "Community Kickoff" on Saturday, May 2, between noon and 5 p.m. at New Paltz's Water Street Market.

The fundraising event will include live bands, children's activities, and raffles. Entertainment will include talented singer/songwriters from the New York area. Among the performers are Michael Churton, David Corafano, and Shaun Barker.

Raffle prizes include two rounds of golf for two at Apple Greens Golf Course ($128 value) and a $100 gift certificate to The Harvest Cafe. Also being raffled off is an Ipod Shuffle, a $50 gift certificate to 36 Main Restaurant and Wine Bar, 2 handmade Mountain Boy Sled Works Kid Wagons valued at $108 each, and a $40 Plaza Diner gift certificate. There are 20 different raffle prizes total.

Raffle tickets will be sold daily by PDQ Printing, located at 8 New Paltz Plaza, Rt. 299/Uptown Main Street, and at the New Paltz Shop Rite on Saturday, April 25. The price is $5 per raffle ticket or five tickets for $20. Tickets will also be sold at the event. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and BIKES THAT HEAL.

Funds assisting BIKES THAT HEAL will go toward purchasing more cost-efficient, theft-proof bicycles. A bike prototype will be featured at the event.

BIKES THAT HEAL also welcomes donations from the public. Pledges may be sent to BIKES THAT HEAL, P.O. Box 804, New Paltz, NY 12561.

ABOUT BIKES THAT HEAL

BIKES THAT HEAL is a not-for-profit 501(c3) corporation that benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Bike rental sites are located throughout the New Paltz community, including stations at Gilded Otter, Burger King, Lefevre House Bed and Breakfast, Rocking Horse Ranch, and the newest location, the Wrapsody Grill. The bicycles are available seasonally for residents or visitors to borrow for recreation or errands. A suggested donation of $1.00 is asked with each rental.

BIKES THAT HEAL aims to promote awareness about and raise monies to help find cures for blood cancers. The organization also strives to combat rising fuel prices, pollution, and obesity in our country. With the support of the New Paltz community, BIKES THAT HEAL demonstrates a step toward clean air, reduced energy consumption, traffic congestion, a healthier environment, and an overall improved quality of life for residents and visitors.
